Interview with Heidilore

1. Your history with conspiracy boards goes back quite a way, Heidi, what was it that first prompted you
to post?

I first started going to conspiracy forums in 2001, after the 9-11 attacks. Something did not seem right to me with the attacks, so I was looking for answers. I googled the topic and found plenty of other people having the same doubts, which surprised me. At the time, I was a moderator on a major political chatroom. I talked to an individual with the moniker "DeadNextDoor". He pointed me to the websites whatreallyhappened.com and rense.com. The rest is history. :)

2. You were on Godlike Productions when I first found my way there, what year did you start posting there, and
what were your main topics of passion?

I started posting on GLP in 2002, as an AC. I don't recall when I formally joined and started using an avatar. It was awhile ago, though, because at the time there were very few moderators...pretty much only admin. My main topics and interests were UFO's-aliens, ghosts/paranormal, 9-11 attacks, and Israel.

3. There are rumours and gossip still circulating about your days there, would you care to set the record straight?

I don't understand why there are still rumors. They demodded me years ago, and I wrote out a very specific answer to all the issues on my website. I still maintain I did nothing wrong. I asked for proof, they provided me none. It felt a little like a witch hunt. I was not allowed to tell my story or explain anything on the forum. I had been told several times prior to the demodding that I needed to "tone down" the anti-Israel rhetoric; they were also very irritated that I was a moderator on another forum. Weird coincidences have followed me ever since those days. I would rather not explain those coincidences, but it has been very strange.

4. What motivated you to leave GLP, and help set-up the Lunatic Outpost?

I left GLP because I was kicked off...lol. I didn't set up LOP, for the record. What happened was this. It was a couple years after the demodding; I was not inhabiting forums often. I got an email from moderator FreeFlow, rather out of the blue. He explained that Disturbed had set up a friendly place for people to go. At first, I wrote him back and said thanks but no thanks; I didn't need the problems that forums tend to bring. He wrote me back and promised me there would be no shenanigans. I have always had a lot of respect for him, so I broke down and joined. At first, Disturbed did not believe it was really me. Took some convincing. I do understand why he did that, and I am grateful. I joined on October 1st, 2009. Hard to believe it has been two years!

5. Did you have a vision of what LOP could become, and has it reached that potential, or perhaps surpassed it?

LOP has far surpassed my expectations. I honestly thought it would continue to be a simple little forum...I have been shocked by the amounts of people. In fact, sometimes I have to take a break from LOP because it becomes a bit of a distraction. I am empathic and I feel things very deeply. It helps to step away. I honestly wonder why Disturbed allows me to still be moderator after taking so much time off!

6. A more personal question - did you have crushes, and on who? Did you find your hubby on the internet?

Oh, I had plenty of crushes...I won't say on who, though! Met a few people from GLP and LOP in real life. I found my hubby on twitter and LOP. We honestly have the same feelings on almost everything. I have never met anyone like him.

7. You're studying political science, what interesting insights, if any, have you found in regard to conspiracies and academia?

I have learned that political science academia and conspiracies mix more than people think. Each week, for my politics class, we must write out answers to questions; we have done several essays already, also. My views are more libertarian; those in my class are strict republicans and democrats, which consistently results in ridiculous arguments on the message boards we employ for the class. I have found that every person in the class agrees with at least one of my platforms. Oddly enough, I am the voice of reason over there. I do write from a conspiracy point of view. My professor gives me very high marks for "critical thinking". I don't see a lot of that going on with the dems and reps in the class, unfortunately. I have learned, though, that they are more fed up than they let on and there is a lot of agreement with me, regardless of political affiliation.

8. Has what you learnt from the conspiracy boards coloured your view-points re:political science?

Absolutely! Conspiracy boards have taught me plenty when it comes to political science...and yes, it does cloud my view occasionally. The patience I have learned in being a moderator has also helped; regardless of whether people are conspiracy based or not, people are people. Arguments happen to the best of us. Sometimes I have to count to ten to deal with my classmates, same as the forum!

9. Where do you think your future lies? Do you believe in DOOM?

My future lies in making preparations and enjoying life while it is still relatively pleasant. We have plenty of land and live in a very sparsely populated area. We are currently in the process of trying to put together a new house on the property; we are outgrowing this one. Do I believe in doom? Yes, I suppose I do; this system cannot sustain itself in its current incarnation. There has to be ramifications on the social, political, and physical fronts. Things are speeding up quite a bit. I don't, however, believe in doom dates or so-called gurus. There has to be some common sense. You are not going to know when things start to happen; TPTB will not allow that. Whatever you think or do, or how you shape your views, always walk into it skeptical and with common sense. A true thinker is skeptical in some sorts and wants to prove something...open-minded. Unfortunately, I don't see that from a lot of doom "embracers" or from the other side (debunkers).

10. What are your passions these days?

My passions these days are traveling and paranormal investigations. I do a lot of reporting and such on twitter, but to be honest it isn't going anywhere so I have stepped back from it. Also take great pleasure in being in nature, simply to clear my thoughts, and my religion (Asatru). Also, I do a lot of reading these days because there isn't much else to do out here. I have my classes which keep me busy, and JM's business. Photography. Trying to update my paranormal site once in awhile. http://paranormalarkansas.com
