The stage is set, I'm at one of my favourite places to go out for a paddle, but first,
I have to walk
through snake infested territory...
the beginning is rocky, I had good intentions about wearing long pants and shoes, but
only managed the long pants,
thongs are so much comfier in summer weather!
I have my smaller punk board with me today :)
I let him lead the way ;)
Like so many things in my life, I carry my surfboards back to front :{
The track looms ahead with all its hidden dangers...
soft sinking black sand that can burn your feet
who, or what, has been here recently?
as if I needed reminding, I've already met the locals on previous trips.
My first adrenaline hit:
the sticks are actually good alerts, its too easy to float off in some
nature wonderworld fantasy...
this black poly-pipe doesn't get me anymore, but it made a friend jump out of her skin recently, lol
soon, a view of the ocean
there, she blows! :)
now, just a section to get through that makes me sweat
its where I had a close encounter last summer
second adrenaline jump -
even though this section of the track looks snakey, it is usually too shaded
for snakes
such a sweet sheltered spot
but a popular sunbaking spot for the locals looms up ahead...
at the top of the steps, when I was coming back the other way last summer,
there he was,
big, long and black
I'd got a photo of him, but he wasn't moving, so I had to wait,
until he moved off into the bush,
then I walked through very, very alertly,
aware that he could be just inside the shrubbery,
out of sight, but able to move super fast...
anyway, this time, no scary locals
and just a short stroll down to the beach
flower power defeats fear every time, lol
claiming the beach!
no-one east
no-one west
all mine :)
onshore and not that great, but I can see a wave I could try to surf...
my little camp for the afternoon
with provisions
water too of course, no West Aussie goes anywhere without water
what is that?!
feathers, I found lots more
and other stuff
I'm collecting 'poo rocks'
to play a joke on my daughter's b/f
he started it!
he'll find one in his bed soon, heh heh
this is a knotted-up seaweed/fishing line/rope sculpture,
it looks a bit like a weird bird flying, when its hanging up,
so I'm taking it home.
And now, I'm getting out there, into the ocean :)
