Sat Walk - Sydney in Winter

It was a cool soft rain day
when I set off on a big city walk
replete with sensible shoes
but no umbrella
optimism blooming like the flowers outside my door

up to the front gate

and down the street

city cats aren't fussy where they clean themselves!

and then I spotted my little local coffee shop

I'll try it on Monday, and hide behind a newspaper if no-one smiles at me
(city folk can be a bit smile poor)

there actually are trees!

Elizabeth Bay/King's Cross area has some cool architecture, methinks

I found my yoga studio :)

winding city streets

mini cactus garden

(city stalker, heh heh)

I spotted an expanse of green, so I had to investigate further

It turned out to be Rushcutters Bay Park

with trees to hug

to my surprise, you can get away with almost anything in a city
the number of people walking around talking to themselves ensures this
(thanks to mobile phone technology ;)

a close approximation of a river

ahhh, but the Harbour!

makes up for a multitude of city sins

and nature extends her roots everywhere :)

I can't resist these exotic staircases

so up I go, I know not where...

I found a market!

I bought some goodies, and headed on down the road
into the infamous King's Cross

it is NOT as twisted as its reputation

in fact, I  the recently installed spy-cameras will mostly record a community
doing its best to survive against all odds

creative inner city gardening

and I head back home
(a temporary one, I know,
but I have many!)

and later...

a sunset is always beautiful
wherever you are
