Adventures of the Yellow Surfboard

Twas a sunny late autumn day, when I set off on a Saturday adventure
my head full of politics and religion, words jumping over themselves in cartwheels

I sure needed an anti-dote to hours of conspiracy forum talk,
and I knew just where to get it
my favourite 'secret' spot
surfing in solitude, no-one usually in sight,
the Sun was shouting it at me

So I packed my stuff.

Into an already overcrowded car,

but my surfboard loves it :)

I drove as far as I could, to where the streets have no name

And parked the old bomb

The walking track lay ahead of me, so I loaded up my body with towel, surfboard, cell phone, 1.5 litres of water, herbal medicine ;) wetsuit, fruit, gortex coat, camera, etc..

I needed a good dose of physical reality, it restores me, to be in the middle of a heaving ocean in all her bi-partisan power, and a subject to the physical laws of the universe, in all their immutability,
it's a healthy dose, lol
I return to my mind, suitably humble ;) ego inflated, too

Through the tunnel, and there she is!

Best foot forward, my trusty companion and I..

As we neared our destination, alas, the conditions changed

The wind howled and there was a sign

I cool-headedly (the wind really was blowing off the Antarctic ice) assessed the situation

The waves weren't too big or anything..

But...bbrrrr

Then, the rain came.

I had to make a run for it, back up the hill with all my stuff, to the sheltered hollow under the peppermint trees

And I settled down for a while...

Ahhhhh....

:)

The wind, she kept howling, the rain, she kept coming,

after the delights of my sanctuary, I got itchy feet to get to my sister's for a beer

And, realizing I had to hurry before the next onslaught, I headed back to the car

Walking fast along the track, with all my gear, somehow now weighing more than they did on the way there, (despite me drinking the water and eating the fruit)
I speculated on my situation..
I didn't get the dose of reality I'd been seeking by having fun with my surfboard on a sunshiny day, but I sure got it from the weather
lol
gotta love the unexpected :)

My clothing had to adapt to my situation...

Bush Fashion!

And so, to my sister's house
