'A Day in the Life of Kalamity Kool' 14 Oct.2011

It was a Friday, which lent the day that delicious, half-expectant undercurrent of excitement, and I woke up way before I wanted to, though that is usual.
An added nervousness was there, too, because I have given myself these damn deadlines to meet, for the Stalker, and my wireless internet connection is proving to be very fickle.
I could hear my daughter's cats outside my door, they always bother me in the mornings instead of Ami, but I don't mind, it's these little routines with pets that can anchor a person in times of turbulence.
So, I make the obligatory cup of tea, give the cats their biscuits, and go back to bed, and wait for the lappie to warm up.

Will it be a functional net day, or a bash-the-thing-with-a-hammer day?
Ami is up, and making cheery jokes, she thinks I'm incredibly lazy for having tea in bed, lol. She goes to her 'art room' to work on designs for Christmas cards.
And - the lappie is buzzing!
But - the cats!
(anyone with cats and a computer knows what I'm talking about..)
For a while, I do the difficult multi-task thing, of stroking Tinkerbell, moving the cursor, tickling Brad..
he rubs his bum on the top edge of the lappie, yeww.
Eventually they settle on the bed, I don't like them on there, but have caved-in, such a weakling for a cute face and a soft purrr.
I work on the Stalker and post on LOP, make coffee, and breakfast in between, until my other daughter arrives to take Ami to a  party at the horse-riding place, their little half-sister's birthday.
The day before, the podiatrist had accidentally cut Ami's toe, when she was scalping back a painful corn, and since this is potentially semi-catastrophic (even the smallest cut to her skin can trigger a cellulitis infection, which would mean months of anti-biotics and no swimming, which in turn means weight gain again, and crankiness) we soak her feet in a tub of warm water with hydrogen peroxide, apply anti-fungal and paw-paw ointment to prevent cracking, dress the cut and rub in zinc as protection for the thin skin, stretched to its limits from oedema.

When they leave, I go back to the lappie and in between household chores, get some Stalker time in.
Normally, on a Friday, I would be driving back to my little shack in the forest, but my other daughter is having a cocktail party on Saturday for her birthday, so I'm staying in town.
The Stalker has been a solitary mission, for many years, but this year I've been blessed with another writer,
Juan Star, who keeps writing, and doesn't give-up :) and today his input charges my resolve, and by lunch-time I'm satisfied with what I've achieved.
The other daughter phones, for me to come and meet them at the shops, so I hop in my old bomb of a car and drive the 10 km's into the centre of town.
I have three daughters, and they're all in K-Mart, one is trying to find a big bowl for the punch, one is chasing a birthday gift, and one is looking at dvd's.
We make a good team though, and in about an hour, it is all done, birthday prep. and all.
I suddenly realize, I need heels and a dress, for the cocktail party, so I madly rush around town, try daggy dresses on in opshops, find a pair of shoes, but have no dress when I get the phone-call to come and meet them again. We do the alcohol shopping together, with Ami waiting in the car, each competing to be the one to pay for more, lol,
they touch my heart and I'm proud.
I take Ami with me, we go and pay her rent, go back to the shops for food shopping, and in St Vinnies I find a long slinky dress for $8 :)

Ami is very tired when we get back home, so she goes and has a nap, and I go for a walk/run on some bush tracks near her place, the thought of summer beach days driving me..
It's a bit of a special night, too - two friends from the city are in town, working, and are coming over for a few drinks, so I soak in the bath...ahhhh...and then I battle the lappie again for a while.
It was Ami's turn to cook dinner, but she sleeps on, and I don't want to disturb her, knowing she will be in fine form for our friends if she's had a good sleep. When she wakes up, we decide to have last night's chicken and noodles.

Damo and Neil are running a bit late, Ami sits waiting near the window, excited but patient.
I put on some music, tidy-up, and when I say 'I wish they'd hurry up!' she says 'they're coming, be patient, Mum'.
It always amuses me when I hear back from my grown-up daughters, the things I used to say to them...it's like a role-reversal, as I head into my second childhood, I hope ;)

And, they do arrive, with big hugs and much laughter, we show them the new home, they are much impressed, and we sit around a table, drinking and chatting.
These two men bring out a side of Ami the rest of her family don't really see, she becomes the flirtatious young woman, cheeky and confident, and Damo and Neil egg her on, giving her compliments and suggestive remarks, all with genuine warmth and love for her, I know that they really do appreciate her sexuality, which the rest of the world tries to suppress.
The handicapped, especially if they are obese, are not allowed to be sexy.
But, she's my daughter, and her sex drive will help keep her alive, so once again, I'm proud.

We're all pretty comfortable with each other, the veterans of quite a few drinking nights together, the conversation is easy and Ami puts on some solid techno and has a dance :)
I bought some worms a few days ago, for a worm-farm, and Neil tells me about yachts that use them for their toilets, apparently if you use a solar panel to dry the poo, it turns into a powder the worms demolish rapidly.
They've bought us a present, a key-ring each, with a powerful l.e.d. globe, so for a while we use them to create a strobe light effect for Ami's dancing.

Near mid-night, they leave, having to work the next day, and Ami and I go quickly to sleep, so we're not tired for the cocktail party the next day.

The company said last month in its quarterly earnings report that it had already received 50, 000 retweets.

Under the plan, including Yale University economist
Robert Shiller, who say household debt reduction is necessary to take website speed test action and name
and shame the individuals and companies concerned.
