The apartment where I'm staying is in a great spot for getting to the famous sites of Sydney.
I can do it all in one walk, from Elizabeth Bay to the Rocks, and watch a constantly changing cityscape unfold before my eyes.
I can do it all in one walk, from Elizabeth Bay to the Rocks, and watch a constantly changing cityscape unfold before my eyes.
wasn't long till I found the 100 steps
some keen city folk run up and down these... feeling pretty smug about my beaches back home
down I go, loving my new shoes all the way
from the top, the first glimpse of the Bridge
and the city casts its sky-reaching strange beauty everywhere
Woolloomooloo
the lines of city streets
the bridges and sneak-peeks of water
reclining treetrunk without a head
art interjects everywhere and reminds me of the more there is
to being human
the old and the new
back towards Woolloo...etc ;)
The Art Gallery of N.S.W
reclining figure with a head
the entrance to the Botanical Gardens
winding paths through trees, flowers and statues
a man and nature co-creation
stunning!
Dianna, the goddess of purity
and the famous Wollemi Pine
so Australian, came from Italy,
'Boy With Thorn'
along the foreshore, the walk-path to the Opera House
and there she blows!
on the other side of the small bay, the Sydney Harbour Bridge
with the ferry cutting its way through Circular Quay
it seemed like a nice spot to have a beer, so I did
at Circular Quay
walking now towards the Rocks
I sat down on the stone wall to watch the sun setting and had an interesting conversation with a lady with many travels under her belt, she had been to many places at unusual times...
just before major calamities,
including 9-11
and the Bali and London bombings, the tsunami in Aceh,
always left before it happened...
the mysteries of timing
make you think
on the way back, the pretty city night was settling in
and I caught the bus back home.

Hey Maudi- thanks for bringing back so many memories- Wooloomoloo used to be the slums of Sydney- who would have thought- as a small child I lived in one of the many terraced housing that used to be in the area. You so caught the changing nature of Sydney- I loved it. Carry on the good work- it's so lovely for us that can't get there to have this personal view that we see through your eyes- you are an artwork in itself- keep walking- Love nigel
